Make way for banana nut

Here's our first foray into real baking (that means not key lime pies). And we're starting out easy with banana nut bread/cakes. We made so many because the recipe called for buttermilk, the grocery store only sells buttermilk in quarts, and buttermilk spoils really fast.

And how do we know that buttermilk spoils really fast? Well, that Mother Cake and the three cakelings you see there are actually our second batch. The first time we only made two small ones. Then we found ourselves stuck with lots of buttermilk. So we went out and bought more bananas. Then we realized that the buttermilk spoiled. So we bought new buttermilk. It's crazy.

After making those guys you see in the picture, we made another mother-sized one, only we added chocolate chips to the bananas and walnuts.

And we still have buttermilk left.
