confetti spaghetti

Happy New Year! After eating out the past three nights in a row, we finally got to cook our own dinner today. We're heading south in a few days for a vacation, but our fridge is still stacked with groceries that we must finish, pronto! So tonight's pasta sauce was a mix of chicken (marinated with paprika, pepper, honey and cooking sherry), ham, chinese bak choy, mushroom, onion and tomato sauce. Lynette thought that it tasted a bit like Chinese food. Kenneth thought it tasted OK, but he was probably just hungry. Actually, both of us are down with a very mild sore throat now, so chances are our tastebuds aren't working very well.
Anyway, we want to let everyone know that we came across two excellent cooks this week. One was the mother of a friend, who cooked an amazing feast of Taiwanese cuisine for a bunch of us. The other was our old neighbor, Lisa, who invited us to her place for some Japanese hotpot. That hotpot was very, very good! We're still raving about her pork ribs, which were stewed for three days. That's right, three days. The things you can do when utilities are included in your rent, heheh.
