Pineapple bomb
We had a pot luck the other day, and decided to make a Muslim-friendly pineapple fried rice. We'd bought a whole pineapple from the local Asian supermarket a few days before, and figured we'd try something different.
An important lesson was learnt here: Plan carefully before carving out the pineapple boat. We ended up carving a hole that wasn't very smooth at the bottom and, worse still, was cut all the way through at some point. No worries, though. We had more fried rice than pineapple capacity, anyway, and actually served most of the fried rice in a pot. The picture you see was part of a tableau created just for the blog.
What went inside the fried rice? Cooked rice, pineapple, garlic, diced carrots, salt and some soy sauce. We also fried some ikan bilis and peanuts separately and mixed it all in near the end. Our friend, Najib, thought it was nice. Of course, he was breaking a fast and terribly hungry, and we know how honest tastebuds are in times like that.
