Moat Mountain Madness

We went to New Hampshire over the weekend to just chill out in the White Mountain region. We stayed at a B & B, took in the sights, did a bit of tax-free outlet shopping and watched a movie. Dinner on both nights that we were there took place at a restaurant called Moat Mountain Smokehouse and Brewing Co.

We'd read reviews saying the food here was good and the portions were huge. It's a bit of a favorite for the outdoors folks who relish a hearty meal after roughing it in the wild. We weren't disappointed. Their smoked pork, in particular, had a wonderful smoky taste and was super tender, juicy and flavorful. The first night, we had a burger and a sandwich, which came with cajun fries and sweet potato fries (both yummy). The second night, we shared a half salad and the "combo platter," which came with a quarter chicken, ribs, smoked pork, two slices of bread, coleslaw and a crazy big cornbread. We barely finished it between the two of us. Again, portions aside, the smoked pork easily ranks among the best we've had in the Boston area.

The next time we go on a hike in the Whites, this is where we're ending the trip.
