Curry pods

We had quite an adventure with curry puffs over the Memorial Day weekend. We had a potluck one day and a dinner party at our place the day after, so we decided to make curry puffs for both events.

Kenneth tried to make a puff pastry from scratch using an online recipe he found that promised a shortcut. Didn't turn out so well, because the pastry didn't puff. In any case, he only made enough pastry for the pot luck, so the next day he tried to make a non-puff pastry. This time, he didn't put enough butter in the pastry and it wasn't as soft as he wanted. (The fillings, by the way, were OK)

Anyway, even after the second batch of curry puffs, we found ourselves with a crazy amount of fillings left over. But because we'd spent so much time cooking during the weekend, we put the fillings in the fridge and left it for another day.

Kenneth decided the next night that the best thing to do was to make two giant curry puffs. So he made a fresh batch of pastry. This time, he made the wrong move of melting the butter first, which made the pasty more like the type they use for pineapple tarts, so the pastry turned out a little strange. Anyway, at the end of the night we had two giant pods of curry stuff, each one the size of Lynette's foot, if her foot was stung by angry hornets and was swollen.

We're still eating the curry pods today, one week later. Kenneth has cut them into pieces and has put them in the freezer. His plan is to eat one piece a week. Monster clean-up is a long and hard work.
